Summer Employment

The Village has an opening for 2 summer  positions.

The first is for a summer fun coordinator. The person shall be in charge of developing and delivering our summer fun program to children age 4 to 14. The program shall be split into 2 age groups, with the younger group program in the morning and the older children group in the afternoon. This is a 35 hour per week position that will start June 27th and run till August 26th.

The second is for a public works summer student. This position will work under the public works department doing such things as mowing, painting, weeding, watering etc. This position must be filled by a student who is registered to go back to school in the fall. This is a 35 hour per week position starting May 2nd and running till August 26th.

April Council Meeting

The April Council meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday April 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Office. Meetings are always open to the public.

Summer School Fundraiser

Don’t forget to come out and support the fundraiser this Saturday February 27, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. We have an awesome supper, loads of silent auction items and local talents that have been practicing up for weeks. Sure to be a great time. The proceeds will go to help offset some of the costs associated with getting our school up and running this summer. A great project for the community and a great fit with our Empress has Artisans theme. You can get your tickets at That’s Empressive, the Village Office, or from one of our Councillors.

Open Bonspiel

Empress Open Bonspiel is scheduled to run from January 14-17, 2016, and is sure to be a lot of fun.

Merry Christmas

The Village office hours over the Christmas Season are as follows,- closed December 24th through 28th. Open Dec 29-31. Closed Jan 1, 2016.

The Council and Staff of the Village of Empress would like to wish each and everyone of our residents, colleagues and partners a Very Merry Christmas. May you be surrounded by family and friends during the holiday season.

December Council meeting

Please take note that the December Council meeting scheduled for December 17th has been rescheduled to December 21, 2015 to accommodate those wishing to attend the School Christmas Concert. The meeting will start at 6:30.

Christmas Light Up

Atco Electric will be here December 1st – next Tuesday, to put up our street Christmas lights. The Village will also be doing a Christmas light up in the little park by the Town Office. Come out and enjoy some Christmas music, a wiener roast, marshmallows, & hot chocolate. Everyone is invited down to help us start off the season with some great camaraderie. Bring a lawn chair. We encourage the community to also have their Christmas lights on that evening for everyone to enjoy.
