The Village of Empress

is nestled between the Red Deer River and the South Saskatchewan River, at the eastern edge of Alberta. There is a wild feel to this quaint village surrounded by expansive farms and ranches, pronghorns, coyotes and so many different species of birds. Empress and area is home to many bird and big game animals and hunting in this region is very popular. Many a trophy animal has been harvested from this region which covers WMU’s (Wildlife Management Units) 150, 151 & 162. Hunting season here starts off in September with Big Game Archery Season and upland and waterfowl birds, and continues on through till the end of November. This area is known for pronghorn (antelope), white tail deer, mule deer, elk and moose as well as the sharp tailed grouse, hungarian partridge and many varieties of ducks and geese.
