PROPOSED ALTERNATE METHOD OF ADVERTISING STATUTORY NOTICES BYLAW

PURPOSE: In accordance with Section 606 of the Municipal Government Act RSA 2000, Ch. M-26:
The Council of the Village of Empress to consider an Alternate Method of Advertising Statutory Notices Bylaw No. 02-2018.
The purpose of the Alternate Method of Advertising Statutory Notices Bylaw is to provide for one or more methods,( which may include electronic means, for advertising proposed bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings and other things referred), to ensure that the method or methods used will bring to the attention of substantially all residents in the area of which the bylaw, resolution of other thing relates, or in which the meeting or hearing is to be held.
REPRESENTATION: Oral or written comments and suggestions are invited and should be addressed to the point of proposed Bylaw. They may be made by any person or group of persons or a person acting on their behalf, who claims to be affected by the proposed Bylaw, and from any other persons whom, at the meeting, the Council of the Village of Empress agrees to hear. Written submissions may be made by the persons listed above, and must be received in the Village Office by 6:00 P.M. on May 16, 2018. Oral presentations may be made at the hearing by the persons above, whether or not they have made a written presentation.
The time limit of oral presentations is subject to the direction of the Chairman.
DOCUMENTATION: Copies of the proposed Land Use Bylaw are available for inspection by the public at the Village of Empress Office during regular office hours.
This notice is given pursuant to the Municipal Government Act.

Planning for our Future
Posted on August 21, 2017 under: Council NewsAs the next step in our strategic planning phase, Council has created some committees to do some research and investigation in some key areas identified in our strategic planning sessions in June: Hall, Airport, Hospital and Recreation. We also had interest in Community Revitalization, Business Opportunities and Transportation Infrastructure. Appointments were made to the boards based on volunteers at these meetings. If you were not at the meetings but would like to help in any of these areas, please give us a call. Committees will be meeting over the next few months to provide input into our next 5 year strategic plan.

Spring Yard Cleanup
Posted on April 24, 2017 under: Council NewsCouncil has set May 1st as the day Village staff will make an extra garbage pick up for all your spring yard cleanup waste. Please have your grass and leaves placed in clear garbage bags so it can be diverted to the burn pile. Happy Spring!

Municipal Census
Posted on April 11, 2017 under: Council NewsThe Village of Empress will be conducting a Municipal Census beginning the week of April 10th to acquire an accurate population count. Population figures are used in most government grant formulas and we want to ensure that we are maximizing our grant dollars to offset tax increases. Please watch for the census enumerators who will be coming to your door. All information collected is confidential and will be used when considering new programming and services.

This is open to Empress and area residents. We will review the past year, and more importantly get your input on planning for the future. We encourage everyone to come out and have your say.

Empress Splash park
Posted on August 2, 2016 under: Council NewsWe are happy to announce our splash park is now open. Our first weekend was a huge success and by all reports the kids had lots of fun. We encourage you to bring your kids in and check it out. Come for the day or come for the weekend and stay in one of our RV parks. Rates have been lowered to $22.00 per day for fully serviced lots with water sewer and power, and the Splash park is FREE.
