The Village of Empress

is nestled between the Red Deer River and the South Saskatchewan River, at the eastern edge of Alberta. There is a wild feel to this quaint village surrounded by expansive farms and ranches, pronghorns, coyotes and so many different species of birds. Empress Canadian Pacific Railway Station


Address: 109 Center Street

The building was constructed in 1914 and it served until the railway was removed.  In 1991, the Government of Canada added the building to the Heritage Railway Stations Protection Act.  Then in 2002, it was formally recognized by the Provice of Alberta as a Provincial Historic Resource.

The building is owned & operated by the Empress Historical Society.  Events are held from May to September, advertisements for which are posted on the building and here on the Village website.  The society meets the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm, from March to September, new members are welcome.  Contact is Rachel Booker, 403-664-5164.
