Utility Rates in Empress

Some concerns were raised about the cost of utilities in Empress. Below is a rate comparison that was done for Council last year, and updated for your reference.

Update to all candidate forum.

The Empress and District Fine Arts, Culture and Leisure Society has updated their requirements for the all candidates forum Wednesday October 13 at 7 pm. Do to the possibility that some of the candidates may not be vaccinated, the Society has now changed to following the up to 1/3 capacity while maintaining a 6 foot distancing. This will limit our numbers attending to 28 people. Therefore we are asking that only eligible voters in Empress may attend(no one under 18). Once we are at capacity, we will have to close the doors. Masks must be worn at all times. Hands must be sanitized when entering. Questions must be written out and will be collected from the floor for the moderator. Neither scenario is ideal, however, the committee feels having all candidates available is their preference.

Candidates Forum

The Empress and District Fine Arts, Culture and Leisure
Society, are hosting an all candidate forum, Wednesday October 13, 7 to 9 pm at the community hall. Everyone will be required to follow COVID restrictions and will be required to provide proof of COVID vaccination prior to entering the hall. Masks and social distancing will also be required. Having said all that, we encourage all residents to participate. If you have questions for the candidates, they can be sent into the village office or handed to Syd who will be moderating the forum. There will also be paper available to write out your questions once you get to the hall. We will be trying to set this up as a webinar for those who do not want to attend in person, however there is no guarantee we can make this work, so again, we encourage you to come out and learn more about what the candidates visions for Empress are.
