2022-Oct-10 Water Update
Posted on October 10, 2022 under: AnnouncementsVillage of Empress Administration
Monday Oct 10, 2022
Good afternoon Village Residents,
I hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving Festivities despite our water issues.
Another update:
1.) The tower gained a 3/4 a meter of water overnight Sunday which is stabilizing our reserve.
2.) We isolated the two blocks as planned and will wait until Tuesday morning to assess the progress.
3.) We will be continuing with shutting pumps down at 8 pm each evening and turning them back on at 6:30 am each morning so hopefully have enough pressure to get back to some sort of normal.
4.) We believe we have a larger leak on the north side ofthe village, therefore starting Tuesday morning after 9 am there will be intermittent shut downs on the parts of the village north of 3 ave / village offices; while we try to isolate it.
We thank you again for your patience as we try to pinpoint the leak(s) so that we can bring in the equipment to do the repairs.
Regards,
Gary E. Peers

2nd Update of Water problems
Posted on October 9, 2022 under: AnnouncementsAttention Residents of the Village of Empress
First I’m Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving
2nd Update of Water problems:
1.) The automatic systems keep shutting down when the tower gets below ½ full. We were just keeping up at normal pressures during the day and lower at night. That’s no longer the case, so it shuts down after a short run in the morning.
2.) IMPORTANT: Starting tonight at 8pm, we will be shutting down the pumps and the pressure will drop off to about 5 lbs on the hill and a little more down below. During the day we have cut the pressure down to about 18 psi from 25 to slow the outflow / losses and let the tower gain. We will increase the pressure again tomorrow morning at about 8am to the 18 lbs again.
3.) We will be isolating the street from Peter Dyck’s south to the end of the Village tomorrow morning as soon as we have made arrangements to supply those affected with water from neighbors. We have determined that one of the leaks is in that couple blocks.
4.) We wanted to try and get through the weekend before starting to shut residents’ water off, especially for longer periods in order to isolate / find leaks. We are almost there, THANKS for your PATIENCE.
5.) All things will still not be back to normal by Tuesday but hopefully we will be closer to solutions to the predicament we find ourselves in.
We will keep you posted through the Website, our Facebook page and word of mouth. Thanks again.
Regards
Gary E Peers
