The Village of Empress

is situated on the West side of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and serves as a center to the surrounding farming and ranching community of 1,500 people. It has been a focal point for many activities in the area. It is also at the geographical center of many large cities in Western Canada: Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina.

Cemetery

The Village of Empress owns and operates a cemetery southeast of Town on a hill between the two rivers. The Village of Empress organizes a Town clean up every spring in June, weather permitting and volunteers are asked to assist the Town crew in an annual spruce- up. During the summer, the Town crew routinely maintains the grounds.

All monuments require a development permit that may be obtained at the Town office. Maintenance of monuments is the responsibility of the family of the deceased.

For further information on the cemetery please refer to our cemetery bylaw: 5-2014 cemetery_bylaw
